Salary: £53,656 - £60,082 per annum, with a possible market supplement depending on skills and experience

About the Role

We are seeking an inspirational and strategic Head of School to lead our Building Services, Health & Social Care and Art curriculum areas. This is an exciting opportunity to shape curriculum development, support student success and strengthen relationships with employers and industry partners.

Building Services forms a significant part of the curriculum portfolio, so substantial experience in leading and developing provision within this area is essential.

Reporting to the Assistant Principal, you will lead curriculum teams to deliver high-quality programmes, maximise student recruitment, retention and achievement, and ensure learners are well prepared for progression into employment, further study and positive destinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction across Building Services, Health & Social Care and Art.
• Lead and develop curriculum provision to meet local and regional skills needs.
• Drive improvements in student recruitment, retention, attendance and achievement.
• Develop and maintain strong employer and industry partnerships to support work-related learning and progression.
• Oversee curriculum planning, quality improvement, assessment and annual programme reviews.
• Lead, coach and develop teaching and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Manage budgets, staffing resources and accommodation effectively.
• Support the development of Apprenticeships, commercial courses and other income-generating activities.
• Ensure effective student support, safeguarding and inclusive learning practices across the School.

About You

• A minimum Level 3 qualification in a vocational subject.
• A recognised Level 5 or higher teaching qualification for the Further Education sector, such as a PGCE, DET, Cert Ed or equivalent.
• Specialist knowledge and experience of Building Services, including areas such as Plumbing, Electrical Installation, Construction or Multi Skills.
• Proven experience of curriculum management and leading teams to achieve strong learner outcomes.
• Experience of improving student attendance, retention and achievement.
• A strong understanding of quality improvement, awarding body requirements and FE funding.
• Experience of developing employer partnerships and supporting work placements.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• A commitment to equality, diversity, safeguarding and continuous professional development.
