Working Pattern: Hybrid - includes 3 days per week in the office

Contract Type: Full time, permanent

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 FTE

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Quality & Compliance to join our management team at Tes Institute. This role ensures we maintain full compliance with regulatory standards, governance frameworks, and quality requirements set by DfE, ESFA, Ofsted and other governing bodies. The postholder will lead internal quality assurance, audit, risk management, and policy implementation, ensuring governance systems translate into effective operational practice.

You will develop and maintain quality frameworks, audits and compliance plans, while remaining hands on and collaborative. You will manage GDPR, contractual and data management responsibilities essential for supporting learners, tutors and delivery partners. As Tes Institute expands internationally, you will also support compliance with new market regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage overall programme compliance and governance for accredited courses.
  • Co ordinate corporate risk management activity for Tes Institute.
  • Maintain Business Impact Assessments and co ordinate Business Continuity Plans.
  • Lead compliance audits aligned with Tes policies and contractual governance.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance including DBS checks, funding requirements and visa/immigration rules.
  • Oversee complaints management in line with policy and regulatory standards.
  • Audit learner related financial funding processes.
  • Review and update policies, contracts, T&Cs and documentation with Legal and Technology Governance.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and act as department Data Champion, maintaining RoPA, DPAs and Privacy Policies.
  • Manage contracts with third party programme delivery providers.
  • Lead governance panels and committees.
  • Support international programme expansion and advise on global data privacy requirements.
  • Oversee compliance of Pathway Tutors and support training.
  • Provide contractual support (SLAs, NDAs, MoUs, school agreements, consultancy contracts).
  • Support bid and tender development aligned with regulatory and funding requirements.
What You Will Need to Succeed

Experience:>

  • Leadership experience in a quality/compliance role.
  • Understanding of ESFA and Ofsted regulations (preferred).
  • Experience in compliance, data and risk management and corporate governance.
  • Knowledge of the education/teacher training regulatory landscape.
  • Experience in bid development and funding eligibility assessment.

Knowledge:

  • Strong background in policy management, business planning and quality improvement.

Skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Influential leadership and ability to embed compliance practices.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in education, law, business or a related field (preferred).
  • Postgraduate or professional certification in quality management, auditing or process improvement (desirable).
