Job Description

A global organisation undergoing strategic transformation is seeking a Head of IT Projects to lead the delivery of its IT portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives on complexity, drives delivery excellence, and inspires teams across borders.

Location: Bath
Salary: £125,000 (FTC 12 months, Inside IR35)
Hours: Full-Time (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)

About the Role:
You'll be accountable for the successful delivery of a diverse and complex IT portfolio, overseeing programmes that span multiple geographies and business units. You'll lead a high-performing IT Projects team and mature the organisation's PMO capability-enhancing governance, tools, processes, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and deliver the global IT portfolio, managing KPIs, risks, dependencies, budgets, and third-party relationships
  • Lead and evolve the IT Project Management Office, driving improvements in governance, reporting, and delivery frameworks
  • Ensure projects are delivered with predictability, quality, and financial control, while tracking benefit realisation
  • Conduct gateway reviews with senior leadership to validate business cases and rollout plans
  • Manage supplier performance and ensure alignment with strategic goals
  • Champion modern risk and opportunity management techniques across the portfolio
  • Coach and develop the IT Projects team, fostering innovation and excellence
  • Align IT initiatives with business priorities through proactive communication and continuous improvement

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience; ITIL and APM qualifications desirable
  • Proven success leading large, complex portfolios across global organisations
  • Deep knowledge of project governance, delivery methodologies (Agile, Lean, Hybrid), and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong command of project tools and techniques, with a hands-on approach to leadership
  • Exceptional communication, decision-making, and organisational skills
  • Ability to motivate and influence teams across multiple geographies
