Head of Project Engineering

The role can be done from any location in Europe or the US that is close to a GSK location

Job purpose:

This senior leadership role influences GSK's strategic direction for project engineering on large capital projects. It involves defining strategic goals aligned with business objectives, including digitisation and sustainability ambitions. The role requires deep technical expertise in engineering, recognized internally and externally, and reports to the VP of Global Capital Projects, being a core member of the GCP Leadership Team.

The Head of Project Engineering will engage with senior business leaders to provide technical guidance, mentor employees across various regions, and lead a team of senior engineering leaders and experts. Responsibilities include ensuring adherence to engineering standards, capability development, and technical resource deployment for projects over £10m, supporting safe, timely, and budget-conscious project delivery, and working closely with technical authorities to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full accountability for staffing and capability of the project engineering function to support GSK's capital plan and emergency needs.
  • Leading the project engineering team, managing multiple teams and managers.
  • Establishing external partnerships to augment engineering capabilities.
  • Innovating delivery methods, including digital and technology enhancements.
  • Supporting project delivery strategies, developing improvement plans, and representing projects in strategic meetings.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, security, and ethical standards, and representing GSK externally.
  • Understanding and aligning project design and delivery with cGMP and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years in high-tech life sciences project delivery.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the project lifecycle and experience with complex construction projects.
  • Leadership experience in global engineering teams and diverse cultures.
