We're looking for a Head of Project Delivery to take on full cradle-to-grave accountability for some of Thames Water's most ambitious projects - including the Teddington Direct River Abstraction, a £400 million-plus Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project scheduled for delivery in 2033.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a significant component of Thames Water's Strategic Resource Options Programme, with accountability from initial need definition to integration into business-as-usual operations.

  4. Manage all contract matters to achieve the best outcomes for Thames Water.
  5. Develop and implement an optimized programme to meet all regulatory, statutory, and internal deadlines.
  6. Deliver technical solutions that provide value for money on a capital and whole life cost basis.
  7. Manage service providers to ensure performance and value for money.
  8. Ensure compliance with quality systems and processes to meet standards.
  9. Lead a customer-focused culture committed to service excellence.
  10. Ensure positive customer interactions and quality data reporting.
  11. Maintain external stakeholder relationships to protect and enhance Thames Water's reputation.
  12. Lead, develop, and motivate teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

This role is based at Clearwater Court, RG1 8DB, with a hybrid working pattern requiring presence on-site 3 days a week. The role is 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Candidates must hold a valid driving license and have access to transportation; a car allowance of £5.8k is provided.

What you should bring to the role
  1. Degree-level education with additional professional or management qualifications, or equivalent experience.
  2. Strong contractual knowledge of major project management and contracts.
  3. Proven experience managing third-party performance.
  4. Successful track record delivering large capital programmes at a senior level.
  5. Experience in process improvement design and implementation.
  6. Ability to implement feedback systems and communicate tough messages empathetically.
