Help shape the future of hospice care in Birmingham - Deliver meaningful change, support extraordinary care.

Closing Date: 22 April 2026

Location: Hybrid working with multi site working

Across both Hospice sites, Selly Park and Erdington

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £45,000 - £53,000 per annum

DBS Requirement: Standard

We are seeking a Head of Programmes who shares our values and is motivated by making a genuine difference. This role will lead the design and delivery of programmes and projects that support our strategic ambitions, always keeping the needs of patients, families and colleagues at the heart of decision making.

What You'll Do:

Working closely with the CEO and senior leaders, you will help translate strategy into meaningful, sustainable improvements - strengthening how we work together and ensuring Birmingham Hospice continues to provide outstanding care for our community.

You will ensure that change is:

  • Planned and delivered with clarity, accountability and appropriate governance
  • Informed by data, insight and learning
  • Implemented in ways that support staff wellbeing and patient safety
  • Aligned to our values, regulatory responsibilities and strategic priorities

Working collaboratively across clinical and corporate teams, you will create the conditions for improvement to be owned, understood and sustained - supporting teams to deliver high quality care today while preparing responsibly for the future.

About You:
  • Degree level education (or equivalent experience) and a project or programme management qualification
  • Proven experience delivering complex programmes and holding project leads to account
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the credibility to work at senior levels
  • Experience designing and implementing processes, governance and reporting frameworks
  • Confidence using project/programme management tools and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills
  • A curious, improvement focused mindset with the courage to challenge the status quo

Experience in healthcare, charities or complex transformation environments is desirable but not essential.
