Head of Procurement

Your new company

A large, complex organisation operating in the Public Sector is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Procurement to provide senior leadership, stability, and commercial assurance during a period of change. Initially available on a 12 month basis, there is a strong possibility for the role to be extended or made permanent. Hybrid working is available with a need to be in the office 1-2 days per week. There is a strong preference for the role to be recruited on a Fixed Term Contract basis however consideration may also be given on a daily rate basis. This is a high-impact interim opportunity for a senior procurement professional who can add value quickly.

Your new role

As Interim Head of Procurement, you will lead the procurement function, ensuring it delivers compliant, effective, and commercially sound outcomes. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic and operational leadership across the procurement function, taking responsibility for complex, high-value procurement activity across a range of high-profile projects
• Ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and internal governance
• Overseeing sourcing activity, contract management, and supplier performance
• Advising senior stakeholders with clear, pragmatic commercial insight
• Improving processes, controls, and capability within the function
• Managing risk, audit requirements, and performance reporting
• Providing leadership and support to an established team of procurement professionals

You will be expected to operate credibly at senior level, take ownership, and deliver results at pace.

To be successful in this interim Head of Procurement role, you will bring:

• Proven senior-level procurement leadership experience in a Public Sector organisation
• Strong working knowledge of regulated procurement environments
• Experience leading teams through change and of raising team capabilities and outputs
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Demonstrable public sector procurement experience with PA23/TPP a pre-requisite
