Job Description

You will be working for one of the UK's leading telecommunications companies - they are reimagining connectivity and upgrading the UK. Whether they are transforming their ways of working or their Networks, Automation is a key critical enabler as they rollout the next generation of connectivity for their customers.
As Head of Network Automation Development, you will lead the automation development teams across Fixed, Mobile & B2B networks. You will lead, scale, and develop a team of over 30 developers across internal and external resources, ensuring best practice and code quality is maintained whilst they scale up delivery. You will work with product teams, OSS architecture, and business analysts to ensure maximum value is delivered across scaled scrum teams. You will recruit, develop and lead multiple development squads across internal and external resources. Assess use cases in backlog, work alongside Solution Architects to do strategic use case design and design tactical solutions with strategic outcomes in mind. Analyse LLD's, develop and create workflows (when required). Approve Code reviews before merge (when required). Internal/External stakeholder engagement (including vendors). Set standards - coding, ways of working, documentation, for 30+ developers and provide thought leadership to the wider development community across NSE etc. Encourage close-loop automation across other teams ensuring Automation Silos are broken. Set development and Solutions Architect targets. High level shaping of tickets; size ticket and allocating to squads. Communicate updates to key stakeholders. Help stakeholders to think strategically. Explore new libraries, open source tools, adaptors that help them achieve their strategic objectives in more efficient ways. Contribute to the team's roadmap and strategy. Develop and mentor your teams and arrange training where necessary. Encourage data-driven decision-making and sprint planning. Work across both fixed and mobile networks and create synergies and consolidation where possible.

To be considered for this contract, you will be able to evidence experience working in Fixed Telecom Network or Mobile Network Automation. You will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality code and leading development squads. You will likely have multiple years of experience in a senior developer role, ideally in a large telecoms company. You will have a strong knowledge of telecom networks, technologies, and standards, eg TMF/Tosca/MEF. You will need to evidence skills and experience across Netconf, API's, XML, JSON, Jinja 2, Python, JavaScript, Cisco NSO, Ansible, Net Miko, Docker and Workflow automation using Itential IAP, Appian, Resolve. You will be familiar with Redhat Microservices. You will have an understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts. You will be aware of YANG/TOSCA for service modelling. You will also be aware of CI/CD/CT using technologies like GITLAB, Robot, Selenium, Cucumber, Veracode, Sonar cube. Ideally, you will be based in the M3/M4 corridor or capable of commuting and working hybridly in this location.
