Overview

Located around half an hour by train from the centre of London, Dacorum occupies an enviable location just outside the M25 and is home to the towns of Hemel Hempstead (where our offices are based), Berkhamsted and Tring. We are designing our services around customers, ensuring our teams have the right skills and behaviours to excel, and we've developed new ways of working which support flexible and hybrid working.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for waste and recycling, fleet, street scene, grounds maintenance and cemeteries, ensuring shared mission and accountability across the service.
• Focus on waste operations and fleet management, including the modernisation of our fleet.
• Support the redevelopment and modernisation of our depot.
• Maximise our commercial waste service, garden waste and ensure the smooth running of the depot.
• Make an influential contribution to planning for local government reorganisation and its opportunities.

Qualifications

• Professional knowledge acquired through study or career experience, and a proven track record of managing a multi million pound waste service within a complex, multi agency service system.
• Appreciation of the practical demands of managing cultural and operational change and the ability to apply first principles analytical thinking to problem solving and generating solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management, customer service and engagement skills.
• Good political awareness and sensitivity to the needs and priorities of others.

Requirements

Applicants must have a driving licence that is valid in the UK.

A Basic check will be undertaken with the Disclosure and Barring Service to ensure that the successful candidate has no relevant convictions.
