Head of Maintenance

A leading UK energy business is seeking an experienced Head of Maintenance to lead maintenance operations across a national network. This role will drive standardisation, efficiency, and best practices across depots, forecourts, and terminals.

You will report directly to the Head of Engineering and play a key role in the Safety, Sustainability & Engineering function. Managing two regional Engineering Managers (North and South), you will establish maintenance excellence, ensuring governance, process development, and strategic oversight.

Role: Head of Maintenance

Salary: Up to £85,000 per annum + benefits + bonuses

Location: Nationwide (preferably centrally located)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Engineering Managers and Maintenance Team daily activities
• Develop, implement, and audit maintenance processes, policies, and procedures
• Establish governance frameworks and oversee service level agreements
• Manage asset performance and maintenance budgets (approx. £5m)
• Collaborate with the Engineering Director to standardise maintenance practices
• Support major projects from a maintenance perspective
• Combine strategic leadership with hands-on process improvements

Requirements

• Extensive experience in Oil & Gas or related downstream industries
• Proven leadership in regulated environments (fuel, petroleum, chemical, hazardous waste)
• Technical qualifications in Engineering (Master's, Degree, HNC, or HND)
• Experience in COMAH-regulated environments is highly desirable
• Strong stakeholder management and analytical skills
• Comfortable working remotely with occasional travel; ideally with good transport links
