Interim Legal Services Manager

• Hourly Rate: £57.86 via umbrella
• Location: Barnsley
• Job Type: Contract (2-3 months initial term)

We are seeking an Interim Legal Services Manager to provide essential cover during a period of sick leave. This role is crucial for maintaining the continuity and resilience of our legal services team within a local government setting. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in local government legal services and senior management.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Provide leadership and development to a diverse team handling various legal aspects including Property, Procurement and Contracts, Litigation, Adult Social Care, and Children's Social Care.
• Manage additional responsibilities such as Information Governance, Data Protection, Subject Access Requests (SARs), and Corporate Complaints.
• Ensure effective team operations and legal service delivery across the organisation.
• Work closely with the organisation's Practice Manager, overseeing their activities and ensuring alignment with broader organisational goals.

Working Pattern:

• 3-4 days per week (full-time hours may be considered for additional resilience).
• Office attendance is required for 1-2 days per week for part-time staff and 3 days per week for full-time staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in local government/council is essential.
• Extensive experience within legal services in a local authority setting.
• Proven senior management experience with responsibility for leading and developing teams.
• Broad legal knowledge across local government services, particularly in Adult Social Care and Children's Social Care.
