Role OverviewReporting directly to the CEO of Vital Ireland with a matrix reporting line to the Group CIO, the Head of IT will provide technology leadership to support the Group's growth and transformation agenda. The role combines strategic leadership with hands on delivery responsibility, leading a team of 10 professionals and managing an annual IT budget of €2 million.
The Head of IT will act as a trusted partner to the business, ensuring a secure, resilient and scalable technology environment while driving continuous improvement, digital enablement and the adoption of AI and modern workplace technologies. Working closely with the Group CIO, the role will contribute to Group-wide technology initiatives and strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic technology leadership as a member of the Senior Management Team for Vital Ireland.
- Build and lead a high performing IT team of 10 professionals, creating a culture of service excellence, accountability and proactive business partnering.
- Own and manage the annual IT operating budget of approximately €2 million.
- Manage key technology suppliers and service providers, ensuring high-quality service delivery and value for money.
- Own the delivery, support and continuous improvement of the company's business applications, including SAP, SAP CRM, SAP Success Factors, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, QlikView and Esker.
- Ensure the availability, performance and security of all IT infrastructure (Microsoft Azure), networks, end user computing and service desk operations.
- Maintain and continuously improve the organisation's cyber security, governance and compliance framework.
- Establish and operate a project and improvement delivery governance framework.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement across business systems, delivering regular enhancements that create measurable business value.
- Lead the delivery of major technology projects from inception through to successful implementation.
- Support the company's acquisition strategy by conducting IT due diligence and leading post acquisition systems integration.
- Champion innovation by identifying and implementing emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, that improve business performance.
- Develop and execute the organisation's AI strategy and innovation framework.
- Proven IT leadership experience, with a strong track record in operations and programme delivery.
- Commercially astute, with experience managing budgets, suppliers and contracts.
- Deep expertise in one or more technology disciplines, supported by broad IT knowledge.
- Strong understanding of cyber security, governance and modern workplace technologies.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance strategy and execution.
- Proven ability to build high performing teams with a culture of service excellence and business partnership.
- Experience managing costs, operations and compliance infrastructure deployed to Microsoft Azure.
- Experience implementing, supporting or managing SAP or other major ERP environments.
- Hands on experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Automate, Apps or BI).
- Hands on software development experience in any language.
- Experience with Esker document automation solutions.
- Experience delivering AI enabled business solutions.
- Experience supporting business acquisitions and systems integration.
- Proactive, results oriented leader with a strong sense of ownership.
