Job Description

An experienced and forward-thinking technology leader is needed for the role of Interim Head of Housing Technology with a local authority in London. This pivotal position involves providing strategic direction across Housing IT, overseeing critical system improvements, and delivering a technology roadmap aligned with organizational priorities. The role requires the incumbent to lead and manage all Housing IT functions, ensuring systems are robust, secure, and value-driven. Responsibilities include governance and assurance over various housing system projects, acting as a senior escalation point for operational performance, managing key supplier and contract relationships, and driving improvements in reporting, data quality, automation, and business intelligence tools.

The successful candidate will inspire and develop a multidisciplinary Housing IT team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. Additionally, the individual will engage senior stakeholders and external partners through impactful reporting. Essential qualifications for this role include senior-level experience in leading Housing IT, Housing Systems, or Digital Transformation within a local authority or large housing provider. Candidates should possess a strong background in managing major housing management systems, with demonstrated experience in handling system upgrades, integrations, procurements, and technology-driven service enhancements. Leadership skills are essential, particularly in managing multidisciplinary teams in complex public sector environments.

Furthermore, expertise in data governance, reporting frameworks, system security, and business continuity is crucial, as well as a proven ability to manage suppliers, contracts, and assess performance to ensure high-quality, value-focused outcomes. Political awareness and the ability to cultivate trusted relationships across senior leadership and operational teams are also vital. The client is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workforce and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply, with reasonable adjustments supported throughout the recruitment process.
