We are looking for a Head of Government Affairs to join the corporate affairs function of a leading global organisation within a highly regulated industry. The role is based in Ireland, with a focus on engaging in government affairs. This is a pivotal role that directly influences the long term strategy of the business and its global impact. The Head of Government Affairs will be instrumental in shaping political outcomes and securing government support for strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities - Head of Government Affairs- Strategy Development & Delivery: Develop and execute a comprehensive political strategy to achieve the company's vision in the UK, ensuring alignment with global objectives.
- External Engagement: Cultivate key relationships across political parties and governmental levels, including Ministers and Permanent Secretaries. Engage with Think Tanks, Trade Bodies, and external stakeholders to shape regulatory and fiscal policies, in Ireland, the UK and EU.
- Planning & Implementation: Act as an expert on governmental and reputational risk management. Proactively find new ways to optimise external engagement and ensure timely, informed decision making.
- Leadership & People Management: Lead a high performing team of government affairs professionals, inspiring them to make informed, courageous decisions and tackle complex challenges.
- Extensive experience in government affairs, commercial, public affairs and regulatory strategy, with strong knowledge and connections within Irelands political system.
- Demonstrable expertise in political and regulatory acumen with the ability to influence and create instrumental relationships both internally and externally.
- Excellent communication skills, with a particular focus on media handling and engagement strategies.
- Proven experience in managing competing goals and deadlines while navigating complex stakeholder relationships.
- Strong problem solving skills and proactive in managing commercial, regulatory, and reputational risks.
