The Falkland Islands Government currently has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Fisheries Management, who will support the Director of Natural Resources achieve the objectives and performance standards set for the Fisheries Department.
The roleThe Head of Fisheries Management is timely, effective and sustainable management of the various Falkland Islands fisheries. They will lead on the creation and implementation of fisheries management plans through which they will develop and deliver fisheries management and licensing policy initiatives. Working closely with the fisheries science team, they will ensure management decisions are informed by scientific evidence, while, providing leadership for the team responsible for the effective monitoring, control and surveillance of the Falkland Island Conservation Zones and other associated fishing activities.
The personThe successful applicant will hold a BSC in Marine Science, Fisheries Management or another relevant subject and at least ten years' past work experience in fisheries-related activities in a similar role.
We are looking for an individual who is well organised, can manage a range of different tasks simultaneously whilst still maintaining quality output and meeting deadlines.
The package- Fixed-term contract, up to four years.
- Starting Salary - £57,716 up to £70,722 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) with the potential for a higher starting salary for an exceptional candidate.
- Eligible for a 25% annual gratuity (taxable).
- 41 days paid leave, 30 days annual leave and 11 public holidays.
- Relocation allowance, to help with moving costs.
- Flights package for you and any recognised dependents residing with you at post both at the beginning and end of contract, along with additional annual return flights contingent on the duration of the contract.
