Anchor is a leading provider of housing, care, and homeownership services across the UK. Our Resident & Building Safety team is committed to ensuring fire safety compliance, protecting residents through adherence to the Fire Safety Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Building Safety Act 2022.

The Role

We are seeking a Head of Fire Safety to lead Anchor's fire safety programme, acting as the Fire Safety SME. Reporting to the Director of Resident & Building Safety, you will ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, oversee fire risk assessments (FRAs), and embed a compliance-first and customer-first culture.

This role involves technical leadership, resident engagement, and collaboration with contractors and regulators to maintain safe environments for residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Fire Safety SME, overseeing FRAs, compartmentation surveys, fire door inspections, and alarm testing.
  • Develop and implement fire safety policies, ensuring alignment with regulations and best practice.
  • Commission and manage contracts for FRAs, remedial works, and fire safety services, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Lead resident communication on fire safety measures, addressing concerns empathetically.
  • Investigate fire safety incidents, liaising with Fire and Rescue Services, HSE, and other regulators.
  • Manage budgets, monitor KPIs, and drive continuous improvement in fire safety compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

About You

You are an experienced leader with expertise in fire safety compliance. You bring:

  • Deep knowledge of the Fire Safety Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and FRA methodologies.
  • Senior leadership experience managing FRAs, remedial works, and contractor procurement.
  • Strong leadership, resident engagement, and risk management skills, with the ability to conduct site inspections and incident investigations.
  • NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate, IFE Membership, or substantial experience with a commitment to achieve qualifications.
  • A Housing Management Qualification (CIH Level 4 or above) or willingness to work towards it, and a full, clean UK driving licence.
