We work with over 5,000 automotive retailers, helping drivers to pay for motoring costs, accessories, and other services through a variety of different payment options. Our purpose is to build a solution that gives drivers peace of mind while enhancing customer experience and assisting with dealer profitability.
Bumper is a fast-growing payments scale-up and we're excited to continue building on our growth having completed a successful Series B funding round in 2024.
Our Head Office is in Sheffield City Centre, with offices also based in London and Turkey. We've also expanded further, bringing retailers in Ireland, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands on board, with the vision of being the leading automotive payment and insights platform!
A bit about the roleThe Head of Finance will report directly to the CEO and will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health, sustainability and scalability of the business.
This role is both strategic and hands on, making it ideal for someone who enjoys operating at pace in a growing business. You'll own the day to day financial operations, while also acting as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO, providing insight, challenge and support to drive informed decision making and long term growth.
Working with a dedicated and growing Finance team, you'll remain close to the detail, while setting the direction for the function as Bumper continues to scale.
This is a full time hybrid role, based in one of our UK offices (Sheffield or London - Hammersmith). Our ideal candidate would be able to work at least 3 days a week from this one of these locations.
Day-to-day responsibilities:- Own and deliver accurate, timely monthly management accounts, forecasts and year end statutory accounts
- Oversee all financial operations and transactional finance activity, remaining hands on where required
- Lead budgeting, reforecasting and financial planning processes
- Produce cash flow forecasts, scenario modelling and financial analysis to support business decisions
- Actively manage cash flow and working capital, maintaining strong controls and visibility
- Manage relationship with our current debt provider, and help secure future debt providers
- Support lender covenant reporting and compliance, and lead the finance team's input into annual audits and due diligence processes
- Support fundraising and investor reporting processes, including preparation of board packs and financial models for stakeholders
- Oversee payroll processes across UK and international locations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and managing relationships with external payroll providers
- Drive tax planning and optimisation, including maximising R&D tax relief claims, working with external advisors where appropriate
- Partner with the CEO to develop and deliver the company's financial strategy
- Support strategic initiatives including growth planning, pricing, investment decisions and cost management
- Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insight for non finance stakeholders
- Establish and maintain robust but proportionate financial controls, policies and processes
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, statutory, tax and regulatory requirements
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, escalating key issues as appropriate
- Lead, support and develop the Finance team, fostering high standards, accountability and continuous improvement
- Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and advisors

What we are looking for in you- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a senior, hands on finance role (e.g. Head of Finance, Financial Controller)
- Exposure to payments, financial services or regulated industries
- Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP, statutory reporting, and tax requirements
- Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management in a growing business
- Strong financial modelling, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels
- Confident communicator, able to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively
- Organised, detail oriented and delivery focused
- Experience in a scale up, fintech or high growth environment
- Experience with multi entity or group reporting structures
- Experience supporting international expansion
