We are seeking a qualified and experienced educator to take on the role of Head of English at our forward-thinking academy. This is an opportunity for a passionate teacher to step into a leadership position where character and academic excellence are at the heart of our ethos.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the English department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Raise standards of student attainment and achievement within English literature and language.
  • Deliver a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated English curriculum to students.
  • Teach English across different age and ability ranges, inspiring students to excel in both written and verbal communication.
  • Manage staff, financial resources, and physical assets within the department.
  • Support the personal and academic growth of students, providing opportunities for development.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, along with a relevant undergraduate degree in English (management training is desirable).
  • Have a successful track record of teaching English at GCSE and A-Level, rated as good or better.
  • Demonstrate experience in initiating and managing effective change within an educational setting.
  • Provide evidence of raising achievement and adding value for various student groups.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities and the ability to serve as a role model within our academy.
