Head of Engineering EU, Prime Video Live Sports - Tech Ops

Prime Video is seeking a Head of Engineering EU for our global Live Sports Production Technical Operations team. The ideal candidate will shape and drive the technical strategy for our international live sports production. You will provide leadership, vision, and day to day engineering expertise and technical operations oversight for Prime Video Live Sports international properties.
Responsibilities include technical operations design and launch of our international live sports productions, including year over year evaluations of existing productions to drive continuous improvement. This role requires a seasoned technical leader with chief engineering background, business acumen and experience dealing with vendors that has the ability to deal with ambiguity, and a drive to learn and be curious in a high pressure environment that is constantly evolving.
Reporting to the Global Head of Engineering & Technology, the successful candidate works closely with our UK Production Operations and Production teams, while collaborating with the North American Technical Operations team on global initiatives to ensure seamless production delivery.
The ideal candidate will continue to dive deep into new technology through meetings with vendors and attendance at industry conferences that showcase new best practices and technological advances.
Key Job Responsibilities- Manage technical vendor relationships for Prime Video Live Sports properties including NBA International, UCL, EPL, Wimbledon, Roland Garros, and Copa de Brasil
- Design and implement technical workflows in partnership with our technical service providers and league partners
- Edit and craft technical language for RFPs, RFIs, and work agreement contracts necessary to execute our productions in accordance with Amazon legal requirements
- Work closely with technical vendors and partners to stay current with the latest broadcast technologies
- Research, design and implement cloud production workflows with our internal AWS partners and SaaS service providers
- Oversee and support networking and communications requirements for our live production monitoring platform utilized by our UK team to monitor and communicate with live events in real time
- Work in collaboration with Production Operations group to manage event related technical budget components
- Approximately percent travel, both domestic and International. Travel schedule to vary by sport properties season and event schedule.
- Depth of experience in remote sports production, including live event execution and workflow management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast equipment and production infrastructure with the ability to scope productions and select appropriate technical tools for diverse live sports events.
- Proven technical management experience leading engineering or operations teams in broadcast or live production environments.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, coordinate cross functional teams, and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Experience with broadcast facilities and remote production facilities is highly valued, including hands on knowledge of signal flow, transmission systems, and production infrastructure.
- Strong vendor management capabilities are desired, with demonstrated success in contract negotiations and managing relationships with technical service providers.
- The ability to compose, edit, and review complex technical contracts, translating technical requirements into clear contractual language.
- Experience working across production, operations, and engineering teams to deliver large scale live events is a plus.
