Head of Democratic Services - Local Authority

My client in Greater London is looking to appoint a talented Head of Democratic Services on a Contract basis.

This role will provide leadership, direction, and management to Democratic Services to deliver first-class committee, member, and scrutiny services, contributing to the Council's recovery and improvement plans.

About the role:

Based in Greater London (Hybrid):

1. Work with Councillors, the Monitoring Officer, Executive Directors, and others to ensure the delivery of effective democratic services and the provision of constitutional advice.
2. Organise and coordinate the proper and effective planning, conduct, and control of all the authority's democratic decision-making processes and implementation.
3. Develop an effective scrutiny and governance function, in line with the Secretary of State's Directions, to ensure scrutiny is an integral part of the Council's decision-making process, providing constructive challenge.
4. Act as the Council's statutory Scrutiny Officer.

About you:

You will have the following experiences:

1. Extensive experience in a similar role.
2. Local Government experience is essential.
3. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
4. Ability to constructively challenge.

What's on offer:

• Salary: £500-£550 per day, Inside IR35
• Negotiable based on experience.
