Join HSBC as the Global Head of Data Risk as part of the Group Resilience Risk (GRR) and play a critical role in shaping the Bank's global data risk strategy. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving the effective management of data risk across the organization, ensuring strong governance, regulatory alignment, and the embedding of a positive risk culture. You will work closely with senior leadership, regulators, and risk partners to ensure that data is managed responsibly, securely, and in line with the Bank's risk appetite while enabling innovation and business growth.

In this role you will:

• Lead data risk management across the Second Line of Defence (2LoD)
• Provide oversight and stewardship of all data-related risk activities
• Define and implement the Data Risk Policy and establish the Risk Appetite statement for Data Risk
• Ensure robust frameworks, standards, and methodologies are embedded across the organisation.
• Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders including the First Line of Defence, senior management, and audit functions.
• Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimise the likelihood of it occurring, including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with the HSBC risk management.
• Drive efficiency through standardisation under the global risk framework while maintaining cost and headcount discipline.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

• Extensive experience in data risk, risk management, or data governance.
• Strong understanding of risk frameworks, regulatory expectations, and data management practices.
• Demonstrable experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including influencing and attaining buy in.
• Experience engaging with regulators and auditors.
• Experience managing a global team.

This role is based in Birmingham, Sheffield or Chester on a hybrid working basis.
