Job Description

Head of Corporate Communications & Strategy

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Kent has an exciting opportunity to join the senior team as our Head of Communications and Strategy.

You will be creating impactful content and engagement campaigns to support the Police and Crime Commissioner's priorities, working closely with the PCC, Matthew Scott.

You will manage media enquiries and have experience building strong, constructive relationships with journalists and other key stakeholders.

You will be responsible for developing the OPCC's strategic approach to all communications and engagement, providing communications advice on a wide range of issues to the PCC and Senior Leadership Team within the OPCC. You will also lead and develop a small, dedicated team to deliver proactive and reactive communications and engagement activities.

You will lead on public policy development, researching key issues and producing proposals for adoption both locally and nationally to help the PCC cut crime, support victims, and build trust.

This role is based at Kent Police HQ in Maidstone, with the option for hybrid working.

The starting salary is £55,794. The role involves travel, occasional weekend and evening work. You will require policing vetting, and the role is politically restricted as per the Local Government Act 1989.
