Haematology Consultant

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking an experienced Consultant Haematologist to deliver a high quality patient centred haematology service at Leighton Hospital. The role requires a 10 programme activities (PA) per week with on call commitments.
Hours, Salary & LocationFull time or part time (10 sessions per week). Salary: £113,565 - £150,569 per annum (pro rata). Location: 413 Haematology Mid Cheshire, E01009 Town Crewe.
Main Responsibilities- Run three outpatient clinics per week (split between Haematology Oncology and classical Haematology).
- Provide liaison haematology for MCHT inpatients and for GPs.
- Participate in Christie network multi disciplinary team meetings.
- Provide specialist input to inpatients at Leighton Hospital.
- Support local GPs with haematological advice.
- Core member of haematology and lymphoma multi disciplinary teams.
- Develop a special interest and opportunities for cross site work at The Christie Withington.
- Support staff in delivering a high quality service.
- Contribute to the Hospital Transfusion Committee and NEQAS film reporting.
- Maintain diagnostic haematology services for MCHFT and biochemistry.
- FRCP / MRCP or equivalent AND FRCPath or equivalent.
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a licence to practise (or eligibility within six months of interview).
- UK trained applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award; non UK trained applicants must demonstrate equivalence to the UK CCT.
- Additional research or teaching qualification (MD/PhD) preferred.
- Evidence of training and expertise in clinical and laboratory haematology.
- Experience of teaching/training and current research or relevant publications.
- Clinical experience and knowledge in general Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Coagulation and Malignant Haematology.
- Evidence of continuing personal and professional development and keeping up to date with medical advances.
- Knowledge of the core legal, ethical and political issues governing medical practice.
- Attendance at a 'Teaching for Teachers' or similar course.
- Experience of clinical leadership and people management skills.
- Capacity to implement policies and plans, review and allocate resources, and manage progress.
- Ability to review and support performance management and drive a performance culture.
- Within 30 minutes travel time to the hospital and willingness to travel to other sites when necessary.
