Group Financial Reporting Senior Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Group Financial Control team, with a specific focus on ensuring our financial statements are compliant with financial policies and regulatory standards, whilst driving an efficient audit across the Group.

The role reports to the Head of Group Reporting and will be responsible for coordinating the group's activities to ensure external reporting deadlines are met and the external audit is delivered in the most efficient way. The role will work closely with key stakeholders within Group Financial Control, Group Technical Accounting and the finance and business teams across each of the divisions, as well as with our external auditors.

A key aspect of the role is to ensure the smooth running of our processes through robust programme management and collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders across the Group Financial Control team, wider Rolls-Royce teams and with PwC. What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for ensuring reported financial statements are compliant with financial policy and regulatory standards.
  • Partner closely with the Group Reporting, Group Statutory and Group Technical teams to understand accounting treatments and ensure they are reported in line with IFRS and Group Finance manuals.
  • Lead the programme management of the external audit processes. Work with Group Financial Control, Group Technical Accounting and the finance and business teams across each of the divisions, as well as with our external auditors to produce and track a detailed plan for external reporting periods.
  • Drive efficiencies in the external audit through detailed reviews and monitoring against the plan, working with the businesses and the external auditors on more efficient methods and processes.
  • Review, understand and challenge account definitions in our chart of accounts, ensure the presentation of balances in the financial statements adhere to IFRS and Group Finance manual.
  • Work closely with the Director of Group Financial Control & Tax to lead potential future external audit tender activity.
  • Play an integral part of the Group Financial Control Leadership Team, setting clear direction and priorities for the Group Financial Control organisation and ensuring alignment across the divisions.
  • This position has no direct reports however, a key requirement will be to influence and work across our divisions to improve deliverables and processes.
  • Work with and effectively manage relationships with Technical Accounting, Chief Accountants, Heads of Corporate Functions, including Tax, Treasury, Mergers & Acquisitions, Company Secretariat and Head of Investor Relations.
  • Lead on ad hoc projects that require financial reporting expertise, including M&A activities
