Role Overview

This role is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to launch their career, and will provide high quality, efficient administrative support to the Commercial and Legal Function, ensuring smooth day to day operations and effective coordination across the business. Acting as the first point of contact for routine commercial and legal queries within SRSUK, the role delivers timely, accurate responses and directs enquiries as appropriate. It also plays a key part in promoting awareness and understanding of commercial and legal considerations across SRSUK, supporting teams to operate confidently within relevant frameworks and contributing to overall organisational efficiency and compliance.

The successful candidate will be on a fixed term contract for a period of 18 months and during this period will be supported to build their commercial awareness, contribute to team discussions, and develop informed opinions on commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to the Commercial & Legal department, including minute taking, action tracking, and follow up management.
  • Assist in drafting and proofreading commercial summaries and correspondence.
  • Draft and review documents related to SRSUK's client and supplier contracts.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, briefing notes and presentations as required for both internal and external audiences.
  • Lead and implement self contained projects or components of larger projects to deliver organisational objectives, as well as enabling appropriate changes in policy or practice.
  • Assist with the collection of relevant data to support commercial and legal topics such as personal injury claims and GDPR compliance.
  • Working with the Commercial & Legal Business Partners, collaborate with wider support functions on commercial projects.
  • Actively promote Commercial awareness across the organisation.
Skills and Experience
  • Experience in a business environment managing a varied caseload.
  • Ability to prioritise a demanding workload and adhere to stringent deadlines.
  • Experience preparing high quality reports and documentation.
  • Excellent team player with drive and enthusiasm and a collaborative style.
Desirable Experience
  • Legal knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of working on commercial contracts.
  • Basic project management skills with ability to take lead on small to medium sized projects.
  • Experience in the rail industry is welcomed but not required.
