Engage Education is recruiting a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a high-performing and supportive secondary school in Tower Hamlets from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, or other education-related professions.

Working alongside experienced teachers and pastoral staff, you'll gain invaluable classroom experience while supporting students to achieve their academic and personal potential.

The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to work with Key Stage 5 where appropriate.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group intervention sessions to raise attainment.
  • Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Assist students who require additional academic, behavioural, or pastoral support.
  • Help prepare learning resources and classroom activities.
  • Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience, and independent learning skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
We're Looking For
  • A degree in any subject (core subjects such as English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Languages, Psychology, Business, or Economics are particularly desirable).
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, proactive, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Previous experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
  • The ability to build strong relationships and work effectively as part of a team.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
