About us

Wilde Consulting Engineers is an established, family owned civil and structural engineering consultancy, founded in 1980. Over the years, we've grown to become one of the UK's leading independent firms, delivering innovative and reliable engineering solutions.

We work with a wide range of public and private sector clients including local authorities, contractors, and government agencies. Our projects span assessments, designs, feasibility studies, and technical advisory roles on major infrastructure schemes.

About the role

We are looking for a Graduate Engineer to join our Rail & Highway Structures team based in Stockport in 2026. Our workload is varied with projects located both locally in the north west, throughout the UK and overseas.

Projects vary from impactful local schemes to multi-million pound contracts and include bridges, highways, and rail schemes. These projects are delivered for both public sector and private clients including Network Rail, TfGM and many local authorities.

You would join a small, close-knit team and contribute to solving engineering challenges. A typical week could include preparing feasibility studies for new structures, undertaking detailed analysis and design calculations, and managing structural inspections.

Requirements
  • Currently studying a Civil/structural engineering degree (Graduating in 2026)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong motivation to develop your engineering knowledge and abilities
  • Exciting and varied workload across rail and highway bridge projects.
  • Supportive, close-knit team culture with the variety, support and quality of a larger, national consultancy.
  • Clear opportunities for progression as the company continues to grow.
  • Ongoing support for training and professional development.
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.
  • Competitive salary package, tailored to individual needs.
  • Be part of a growing company with a clear focus on collaboration, innovation and quality.
What we offer
  • Varied work and early responsibility, taking ownership of projects
  • The opportunity to join a rapidly expanding consultancy
  • Excellent career progression
  • Contributing to resilient and sustainable development in your local area
  • Support towards Chartership status with our ICE accredited training scheme
