Global Service Automation Engineer - Maritime Automation & Electrical Systems


(Base: Netherlands Must be prepared to do International Travel)


Contract Duration: Initial 12 Month Contract direct with the client and then after the 12 months there is a potential permanent position available


Must be living in the Netherlands and have a European passport

About the Role


As a Service Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring ships operate safely and efficiently. You'll work across three core technical areas:

  • Drives - Speed control systems and DC grid
  • Power - Switchboards and electrical distribution
  • Automation - DCS, PLC, and control systems (e.g., Power Management, Propulsion Control)


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform service and maintenance on automation and control systems
  • Troubleshoot issues in DCS and PLC systems
  • Deliver technical support, both onsite and remotely
  • Motivate and coordinate colleagues and subcontractors
  • Document work activities and write service reports
  • Provide improvement recommendations to customers


The Team


You'll join a close-knit team of 17 service engineers, each with their own technical specialism. While you'll often work independently, you'll have strong support from colleagues and logistics teams to ensure projects run smoothly, whether local or international.


About You


You're someone who thrives on variety, enjoys working abroad, and takes ownership of your work. You're proactive, reliable, and focused on delivering the best service.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Maritime Technology, or similar
  • Experience in technical service or commissioning (marine sector is a plus)
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Valid EU driving license
  • Willingness to travel internationally and be abroad for extended periods
