Global Compensation & Benefits Director

Role Overview
The Global Compensation & Benefits Director will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing competitive compensation and benefits strategies across Calderys' global operations. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, this role will ensure that all programs support business goals, attract and retain top talent, and comply with local and international regulatory requirements. The position is based in Paris at the global headquarters and will work in close collaboration with regional HR teams, Finance, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Lead the global Compensation & Benefits (C&B) strategy in alignment with Calderys' business objectives.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CPO and Executive Leadership Team on compensation and benefits matters.
- Benchmark global practices and recommend innovative and competitive C&B programs.
2. Compensation Management
- Oversee global compensation structures including base pay, variable pay, long-term incentives, and executive compensation.
- Lead annual compensation review cycles (salary planning annual and/or long-term incentive plans)
- Maintain and enhance global job grading and evaluation systems.
3. Benefits Design & Oversight
- Design and manage global, regional and/or local employee benefits programs, including healthcare, retirement, insurance, and wellness initiatives.
- Ensure benefits offerings are competitive and aligned with market standards and employee needs.
- Collaborate with local HR teams to ensure compliance with local labor laws and benefits regulations.
4. Financial Planning & Budgeting
- Play a critical role in the preparation of the annual HR budget cycle, including compensation, benefits, and incentive program forecasts.
- Partner with Finance and HR leaders to ensure alignment between reward strategy and budgetary constraints.
- Provide robust data, modeling, and analytics to support cost-effective, compliant, and competitive compensation planning.
5. Governance & Compliance
- Ensure all compensation and benefits programs adhere to internal governance policies and external legal/regulatory requirements.
- Drive pay equity and transparency initiatives globally.
- Partner with Legal and Finance to ensure accurate and compliant administration of all programs.
6. Global Mobility
- Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and brokers.
- Coordinate global mobility and expatriate compensation frameworks, as needed.
7. People Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage a small team of compensation and benefits professionals globally.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to regional HR leaders and HR Business Partners and
- Support M&A due diligence and integration processes from a total rewards perspective.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in global compensation and benefits roles, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience managing executive compensation and benefits.
- Relevant experience with U.S. pension plans.
- Deep knowledge of global labor markets, compensation benchmarking tools, and legal/regulatory frameworks.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing compensation structures and benefits policies on a global scale.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to budgeting and financial planning processes.
- Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Oracle HCM) and data analytics tools.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field is preferred.
