PurposeThe Global Affairs Associate role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of BII's Global Affairs approach. The role will undertake analysis of external developments, support targeted stakeholder engagement and deliver set piece activities, to time and standard. It will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues across the Global Affairs team and leverage expertise from across BII.
Responsibilities- Deliver set piece activities - such as overseas visits, receptions, teach ins, and roundtables - to time and standard in a way that increases understanding of BII's work.
- Undertake monitoring of external issues, as guided. Synthesise key points, identify opportunities for outreach, contribute to internal memos for staff and management and input into internal reporting.
- Manage requests for information about BII's work from stakeholders, including supporting the drafting of responses.
- Attend and report back from relevant stakeholder events, providing internal readouts to strengthen BII's understanding of its stakeholder environment.
- Undertake other activities relevant to the team as identified by the Global Affairs Manager and the Director of Global Affairs.
- Successful candidates will have a background in public affairs and government relations, at domestic and international level.
- Experience of working with Government officials (UK and international), particularly on issues relating to international development, climate and finance.
- Demonstrable internal and external stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with internal and external reporting and governance processes.
- Rigorous and professional in their work - showing a "can do" attitude that strives for excellence and can manage/adapt to competing priorities.
- Financially literate with the ability to clearly communicate BII's investment products.
- Experience of working with and for international organisations and/or business groups.
- Candidates should be strongly motivated by BII's development mission and ideally demonstrate some commitment to development or social goals through previous executive or non executive activity.
