GI Actuary - Treaty Insights

Overview

We are seeking a qualified non-life actuary with treaty experience to join our team. The role covers reserving for specific treaty classes (P&C lines of business) and acts as the subject-matter expert for pricing, risk assessment and performance analysis for the Treaty Underwriting teams.

Working closely with underwriters, you will identify business growth opportunities to improve profitability and use your expert judgement to ensure that risk is understood in those classes.

You will also update and document pricing models and manage internal model parameterisation. You should be skilled at understanding and digesting risk modelling results and feeding these into wider pricing reviews. Familiarity with RMS AAR models would be useful.

Confidence working with underwriters and building close relationships with underwriting teams is also required.

Responsibilities

• Cover the reserving of specific treaty classes (P&C lines of business) and act as the SME for pricing, risk assessment and performance analysis for the Treaty Underwriting teams.
• Identify business growth opportunities with underwriters to improve profitability while ensuring risk is understood in those classes.
• Update and document pricing models and manage internal model parameterisation.
• Interpret and feed risk modelling results into wider pricing reviews; familiarity with RMS AAR models is useful.
• Develop strong working relationships with underwriting teams.

Qualifications

• Qualified non-life actuary with treaty business experience.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the property insurance space; experience in casualty insurance is a plus.
• Experience in reserving, pricing, risk assessment and performance analysis for treaty business.
• Ability to digest risk modelling results and contribute to pricing reviews.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with underwriting teams; comfortable collaborating with underwriters.
• Familiarity with RMS AAR models would be useful.
