Job Description

One of the UK's premier Business Events companies is looking for German-speaking Group Event Director to take overall brand; ops; sales and marketing responsibility for a portfolio of highly successful technology shows in Germany. You'll have day-to-day responsibility for the events team and be developing the strategy to manage the show programmes; budgets; resources and staff, whilst working to maximising profits.

Group Event Director - Main Duties:

  • Produce a coherent brand, operational, sales, and marketing strategy; manage all key industry partnerships; and write and update annually, a business plan for all portfolio events.
  • Implementation of the strategies working with the ops, marketing, and sales teams
  • Day to day management of the event team including recruiting and interviewing new staff and developing and coaching existing team members.
  • Identify and implement extra revenue and brand extension opportunities.
  • Monitor and report competitor activity, taking actions where necessary.
  • Report and forecast monthly on show revenues; contribution and staffing; with planned actions to ensure your shows achieve budget.
  • Provide a strategic event floor plan with the Ops Manager and ensure its efficient delivery.
  • Appoint contractors/suppliers/agencies and conduct press/TV and radio interviews.
  • Ensure the sales plan is delivered on target and budget, and activity targets are met.


Group Event Director - Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a targeted, strategic and operational management position, preferably in business events
  • German language and knowledge of the German market
  • Ability to travel to Germany 4-5 times a year
  • Resilient personality
  • Ideally, knowledge of the technology market


Group Event Director - Benefits:

  • £65-90k base salary depending on experience with a further c£25k ote.
