Geotechnical Engineer

Structural Soils, part of the RSK Group, is looking for experienced and ambitious Geotechnical Engineers to help grow their team in the UK. We have offices in Bristol, Hemel Hempstead, Tunbridge Wells, Castleford, Wigan, & Glasgow, UK.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a knowledgeable and talented team. You will assist in delivering geotechnical projects and should demonstrate technical, commercial, and site management capabilities.

Responsibilities:

1. Liaising with clients, engineering supervisors, and subcontractors
2. Setting up and organizing ground investigation works
3. Supervising intrusive investigation activities such as drilling, trial pitting, and in-situ testing
4. Soil and rock logging and laboratory scheduling
5. Processing field and laboratory results

Person Specification:

1. BSc degree in geology, civil engineering, or a related environmental subject (essential)
2. Previous UK ground investigation site experience (essential)
3. MSc in geotechnical/engineering geology (preferable, not essential)
4. Ability to log samples to BS 5930+A2 standards
5. Good knowledge of UK soil and rock strata
6. Familiarity with geological maps and data interpretation
7. Understanding of water, ground, and soil gas monitoring techniques
8. Self-motivated, proactive, able to work within a team, and flexible to work nationally or internationally
9. Full UK driving license (essential)
10. Working towards chartership with the Geological Society
11. Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail
12. Ability to travel to different sites as required
