Job Description

Job Title: Genomics Research Coordinator - Recruitment

Department: School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences

Reporting to: Dr Edmund Gilbert

Contract / Duration: Part time (24 months) or Full time (12 months)

Remuneration: Up to €55,978 full time, pro rated for part time

Closing Date: 9:00 AM on Thursday 21 May 2026

Responsibilities
  • Manage data of potential participants registering their interest in the Genome of Ireland project and identify their availability for recruitment.
  • Identify and organise suitable venues for in person recruitment across Ireland.
  • Contact registered participants, obtain informed consent and collect blood samples for DNA.
  • Collect and upload recruitment data to the central Genome of Ireland participant database.
  • Ship biological samples to the RCSI Biobank Service in Dublin.
  • Represent RCSI, funding stakeholders and collaborators professionally at all times.
  • Uphold health and safety standards and procedures as required.
  • Carry out administrative duties and complete required training.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.
Qualifications - Essential
  • Nursing degree or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy training and experience.
  • Valid Irish driving licence and a car.
  • Previous experience in a research environment, including recruitment of participants.
  • Previous experience as a research nurse.
  • Experience of counselling in genetics settings and working in genomics research.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
