We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-site General Building Operative in HMYOI Swinfen Hall
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 07.45-16.45 (1 hour lunch) Friday 07.15-15.45 (1 hour lunch) - 1 in 3 weekends 08.00-16.00 Saturday/Sunday, and participation in on call rota usually 1 in every 9 weeks but can be subject to change, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salaryAt Amey, we're supporting our justice client, His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.
By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
The General Building Operative plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.
What you will do:- Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
- Provide a professional assistance service to those requesting support including contractor escorting duties when required.
- Complete tasks associated with DIY such as Decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, repair of items around the prison.
- Check appliances, fittings and general environment are in good working order and all defects reported to Team Leader.
- General good housekeeping, including litter picking and landscaping around the grounds if required.
- All other FM duties as required directed by team manager.
- Thisrole will also support both local and businesszero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in astrategicand lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
- Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
- Solid experience in DIY/ general building maintenance.
- CITB relevant certification or equivalent is desired but not essential.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work well in a team.
Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
