The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Maths Teacher or Lecturer passionate about helping learners develop confidence in mathematics? Aspire People are working in partnership with Further Education colleges across Newport to recruit dedicated Maths professionals to deliver GCSE Maths and Essential Skills Maths programmes. Whether you're an experienced FE Lecturer, Secondary Maths Teacher, or an education professional with strong Maths teaching experience, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role
  • Deliver engaging GCSE Maths and Essential Skills Maths lessons to learners aged 16+
  • Support students working towards achieving essential Maths qualifications for employment, apprenticeships and further study
  • Prepare learners for GCSE Maths examinations and assessments
  • Differentiate learning to support a wide range of abilities and learning needs
  • Track learner progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Support and motivate learners who may have previously struggled with Maths
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to drive learner achievement and success
What We're Looking For
  • A Degree in Mathematics or a related subject, or substantial Maths teaching experience
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, QTS, QTLS or equivalent) is desirable
  • Experience delivering GCSE Maths and/or Essential Skills Maths
  • Strong understanding of current Maths curriculum requirements
  • Excellent classroom management and learner engagement skills
  • A passion for improving learner outcomes and confidence in Maths
  • Experience supporting learners with ALN/SEN is advantageous
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
