Engage Education is recruiting a dedicated GCSE Intervention Officer to join a high-expectation secondary school in Haringey from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Teaching Assistants, or intervention specialists who are committed to raising attainment and supporting students in the lead-up to their GCSE examinations.
Working closely with teaching staff, you will deliver targeted intervention programmes designed to improve outcomes for students who require additional academic support.
The RoleAs a GCSE Intervention Officer, you will:
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group intervention sessions to students preparing for their GCSE examinations.
- Support students across core subjects, with a particular focus on English, Maths, and Science where required.
- Identify learning gaps and work alongside teachers to develop personalised intervention plans.
- Monitor student progress, attendance, and engagement, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and pastoral teams.
- Motivate students to develop effective revision techniques, study skills, and confidence ahead of examinations.
- Encourage high levels of attendance, resilience, and academic ambition.
- Support revision sessions, after-school intervention programmes, and examination preparation where required.
- Build positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model throughout the academic year.
- A degree or relevant experience working with secondary-aged students.
- Experience tutoring, mentoring, teaching, or supporting young people is desirable.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to motivate, challenge, and inspire students to achieve their best.
- A proactive, organised, and resilient approach.
- A genuine passion for education and raising student attainment.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- September 2026 start.
