GCP Systems Engineer urgently needed to support the delivery and operation of large-scale, cloud-native platforms within a leading financial services environment. This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on GCP, Kubernetes, automation and platform engineering.

You'll design, build and operate resilient cloud services, develop Kubernetes-based solutions and drive engineering best practices across a large-scale cloud environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, build and operate secure, scalable GCP cloud-native services
• Engineer and maintain Kubernetes platforms, Operators and Custom Resources (CRDs)
• Develop custom controllers, reconciliation loops, admission controllers and webhooks
• Build automation and tooling using Golang or Python
• Implement and improve CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices
• Monitor and improve platform reliability, performance, observability and resilience
• Troubleshoot complex production and infrastructure issues
• Develop reusable engineering standards and automation across teams
• Collaborate with engineering teams on cloud platform and infrastructure initiatives
• Support cloud security, compliance, capacity planning and operational excellence

Experience required:

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Advanced Kubernetes platform engineering experience
• Proven experience building Kubernetes Operators and CRDs
• Strong Golang or Python development experience
• Experience with Kubernetes controllers, reconciliation loops, webhooks and API machinery
• Strong Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD experience, ideally Terraform
• Experience with cloud monitoring, observability, security and resilience
• Proven experience operating enterprise-scale production environments
• Strong understanding of software engineering and SDLC practices
• Financial services experience highly desirable
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Copilot or Claude Code advantageous
