Job Description

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Gas Services Manager for our client a government organisation in Southampton, England. The successful post holder will assist in the management of the Gas section including staff, contractors, suppliers and back office administrative activities, within organisation policies and procedures, to meet the aims and objectives of the business / service. This role is a temporary contract initially for 12 months with the possibility to extend.

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:
  • Responsible for allocated budgets, financial monitoring, control income and expenditure, reconciling job costing information and invoicing / recharges to customers, ensure remedial action is taken where necessary to ensure budgetary targets are met, carry out an ongoing review and control of cost and complete associated paperwork in accordance with Financial and Contract Procedure Rules.
  • Ensure that complaints are investigated and responded to in accordance with the Complaints Procedure and that the complaint is rectified taking responsibility for dealing with all stage one complaints relevant to the post's activity areas and provide support and investigation feedback required for stage 2 complaints, providing complainants with regular progress reports as well as monitoring and reporting on the progress of complaints lodged with contractors. Positively respond to feedback from complaints and satisfaction surveys to improve service.

  • Develop and manage specific planned / programmed works projects from inception to completion including identification, surveying, measurement, procurement, management and payment ensuring that all schemes are completed on time and to budget in conjunction with any procurement strategy that the organisation has in place.
  • Enhance the organisation's reputation by promoting a positive image of the organisation to customers, staff, Members, partners and the public and assist senior managers to develop and access markets to increase profitability and quality.
  • Ensure allocated resources are deployed effectively and in line with organisation regulations, rules, standards and approved budgets and support the process for reporting any forecast or actual deviation to agreed contract sums and spending profiles.
  • Maximise productivity using reporting procedures and provide monthly budget statements for all relevant budget headings, to include spend, monthly accrual, commitment and balance, together with supporting commentary on any variance to spend profile.
  • Carry out appropriate minor Gas Design Responsibilities on works that require this i.e., projects and tenders.
Personal Requirements:
  • Standard or Enhanced DBS Required
  • Contractual Car User
Working Hours:

37hrs / Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 4:15pm 7:30am - 3:15pm on a Friday

Pay:

£30.91 per hour

Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.
