Galileo Signal Verification Engineer in Customer Integrated Team ( at ESTEC premises in NL / Noordwijk )

Contribute to the most precise satellite navigation system in the world. Contribute to the implementation and verification of the next generation of Galileo navigation signals, in close cooperation with the customer. Join our Airbus Space Navigation Team collocated at ESA s premises ESTEC in the Netherlands as Galileo Signal Verification Engineer in Customer Integrated Team.

With more than 100 engineers and 25 years of experience, the Airbus navigation solutions group is one of the leading expert groups in Europe for the development and implementation of the European satellite navigation systems EGNOS and Galileo. As part of the Galileo 2nd Generation (G2G) System team, you are going to support the verification of the G2G navigation signal-in-space.

You become part of the Airbus Space Navigation Team collocated in ESTEC, which works closely with ESA and the back-office team in Munich/Taufkirchen. Enthusiastic colleagues, supportive specialists and key technology developments are part of your daily experience.

Your main tasks and responsiblities will include:
    • Support G2G System AIV activities on PRS Signal-In-Space (SIS)
    • Support to System level pre-launch and post-launch activities on G2G SIS requirements verification aspects, in close collaboration with the Agency and industry.
    • Contribute to definition and consolidation of System and Segments level test plans and test cases for verification of G2G SIS requirements
    • Support execution of System level pre-launch activities (e.g. SCTC) and post-launch activities (e.g. IOT, IOV) on navigation Signal-In-Space aspects, in particular for PRS.
    • Post-process test campaign data, and derive navigation signals related Figures of Merit and KPIs
    • Prepare test campaign reports and report on non-compliances and anomalies
    • Collect verification credits for requirements on navigation signal-in-space performance
    • Support to investigation and resolution of non-conformances and anomalies
    • Support to Non-Conformance Board (NRB) and Verification Control Board processes
    • Support interactions with Galileo Segments on PRS SIS aspects
    • Support the definition and consolidation of PRS SIS requirements for Space Segment, Ground Segment and Test User Receivers
    • Support Segments and SIV on correct understanding of PRS SIS requirements
    • Perform SIS quality performance assessments in the context of payload verification activities
    • Perform analyses on G2G SIS processing at Ground Segment and Receiver levels (e.g. TUR-P).
    • Develop SIS-related test vectors as input to Segments and equipment levels development and verification activities
    • Act as an on-site Industry representative and liaise with the project stakeholders
    • Interface with Customer and Industry on verification strategies and implementation
    • Presentation and discussion of results in front of international customers and partners


We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experiences:
  • University Master s degree in Navigation, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering, Physics or equivalent
  • Professional experience of minimum 2 years in space projects, preferably in the Galileo program and/or Global Navigation Satellite Systems related services
  • Solid experience in analysis of GNSS signals w.r.t.
    • digital signal processing (CDMA signals, numeric simulations & analysis)
    • modulation and multiplexing
    • propagation effects and distortions
    • navigation receiver processing and tracking algorithms
    • navigation message data coding
  • Strong skills in engineering software generation and usage (Matlab, Python and/or C/C++)
  • Skills for clear and efficient communication in spoken and written forms in English language
  • Flexibility to work in an international team and co-located with our partners or European customers (e.g. ESA, EUSPA, EC)
  • Ability to work autonomously, have a methodological and analytical working attitude, and be communicatively strong
  • Holding a valid Personal Security Clearance or being eligible to a security clearance
  • A future rotation of work location with Munich/Taufkirchen can be an option
