Job Title: Functional Safety Validation Engineer

Location: Whitley, Coventry

Rate: £33.88ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £25.26ph PAYE

Employment Type: Contract (until 31.03.2026)

Hours: Standard 40 Hours Per Week

Responsibilities typically include:

• Understand and coordinate activities between all stakeholders to deliver safety-related verification activities.
• Ensure a common approach and technical solutions across all projects where possible.
• Ensure compliance with ISO26262 Part 6 / Parts 4&5 .
• Address complex problems faced during projects.

Tasks include:

• Derive test cases from requirements.
• Write test cases in Gherkin (BDD) and store within X-Ray, a subset of JIRA.
• Execute manual test cases on HiL Rigs (Dspace, Vector, or NI) and create test reports.
• Create defect tickets for software failures or issues.

The test case author shall:

• Create tests based on reviewed, approved, and baselined system requirements, considering verification criteria.
• Consider test methods and derivation methods per ISO 26262-6.12, and document them.
• Provide detailed test descriptions, including purpose, pre-conditions, test flow, post-conditions, and evaluation criteria, linking tests to system requirements.
• Ensure traceability between tests and requirements, and evaluate the need for test updates due to requirement changes.
• Store reports under version control.
• Baseline the content of tests.
• Notify stakeholders to proceed with review activities.

Skills:

• Technical knowledge of ISO26262 Part 6 / Parts 4&5 .

Education:

• Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred.
