Full Time Grounds & Building Cleaning Operative

Like getting stuck in, keeping things in order and seeing the results of a hard day's work?

ASA Recruitment is looking for Grounds & Building Operatives to support locations across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.

This is a hands on, practical role helping to places like keep schools, care homes, sheltered housing and community facilities clean, safe and well maintained.

Across a typical week you'll be involved in a mix of janitorial, building, grounds and cleaning duties. No two days need to look exactly the same, and we're looking for people who take pride in doing a proper job.

What You'll Be Doing

• Carrying out general janitorial and building support duties
• Keeping buildings, communal areas and facilities clean and presentable
• Cleaning toilets, corridors, classrooms, offices, kitchens and communal areas
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and sanitising
• Emptying bins and dealing with general waste and recycling
• Keeping entrances, pathways and surrounding grounds tidy
• Moving equipment, furniture and supplies when required
• Carrying out routine checks around the building and grounds and Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, damage or hazards
• Following COSHH, health & safety and site procedures
• Getting stuck into other practical jobs needed to keep the site running properly

What We're Looking For

• Practical, hands-on and reliable
• Experienced in janitorial, caretaking, cleaning, facilities, grounds or general site work
• Happy taking on a mix of cleaning and practical duties
• Someone who takes pride in work
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Proactive and willing to get stuck in
• Able to spot and report problems and is familiar with basic health & safety and COSHH
• PVG registered or willing to obtain one
