Nielsen Racing is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Freelance Tyre Technician to join our team as we continue to expand from our new headquarters in Sywell, Northampton.
As one of the leading teams in LMP2 endurance racing, we are seeking a motivated, committed, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a high-performance motorsport environment and is keen to contribute to our continued success.
The RoleAs a Tyre Technician, you will play a vital role in the preparation and operation of our LMP2 racing programmes. Working within a small and agile race team, you will be responsible for the preparation, management, and performance of wheels and tyres for one of our race cars throughout events.
This is a hands-on position requiring regular international travel, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and presentation.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all tyre-related operations during events in conjunction with the Engineering Department and No. 1 Mechanic.
- Prepare and maintain wheel rims, tyres, and associated hardware for LMP2 events.
- Communicate effectively with the Race Engineer, No. 1 Mechanic, and wider team, adhering to established radio and communication protocols.
- Support garage build-up and operational set-up at race events.
- Maintain exceptional standards of garage presentation and organisation throughout each event.
- Assist with garage pack-down and event de-rig operations.
- Ensure readiness for all scheduled sessions and support the efficient running of the race programme.
- Support the safe transportation and shipment preparation of team equipment by road and air freight as required.
- Previous experience as a Tyre Technician within a professional motorsport team.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and international travel.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- HGV Class 1 Licence.
- Previous experience within endurance racing or prototype racing programmes.
