Freelance Technician

Freelance Architectural Technician Newcastle upon Tyne £30 per hour Immediate start.

An established and growing architectural practice in Newcastle is seeking an experienced Freelance Architectural Technician to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across the Healthcare, Commercial, Residential, and Education sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong professional who can work independently, contribute to project delivery from planning through to construction, and collaborate effectively within a busy design team.

The Role

You will be responsible for producing high-quality technical information, coordinating project documentation, and supporting the successful delivery of projects across a range of sectors. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing their own workload while working closely with architects, consultants, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed technical drawings and construction information.
• Prepare and coordinate planning, building regulations, and construction packages.
• Develop and manage Revit models in line with BIM standards.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities.
• Ensure projects comply with UK Building Regulations and relevant technical standards.
• Support project delivery through all RIBA work stages.
• Assist with technical problem solving and design coordination.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience working as an Architectural Technician or Architectural Technologist within a UK architectural practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK construction methods, detailing, and Building Regulations.
• Proficient in Revit with good BIM coordination experience.
• Experience delivering projects across one or more of the Healthcare, Industrial, Commercial, Education, or Residential sectors.
• Ability to manage workloads independently and meet project deadlines.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• CIAT accreditation or equivalent experience is desirable but not essential.
