Freelance Instructor

About the Role

Virgin Active is seeking talented and engaging Freelance Instructors to deliver group exercise classes across London and Collection clubs. The role focuses on bringing energy, expertise and community into every class while upholding Virgin Active standards and the requirements of the format taught. Instructors create inclusive, safe and motivating experiences that help members participate, progress and enjoy being active, and they work as part of the club team to support a strong member community.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, engaging group exercise classes across London and Collection clubs in line with Virgin Active standards and the requirements of the format taught.
• Bring own personality, energy and style to every class while creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members.
• Prepare thoroughly for each class, including music, equipment, choreography and class content where relevant.
• Provide clear, confident and motivating instruction, ensuring members understand what they are doing and how to exercise safely.
• Create an energetic and memorable experience that motivates members to participate, progress and enjoy being active.
• Build positive relationships with members and contribute to a strong sense of community within the club.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, punctuality and reliability, and represent the Virgin Active brand positively and professionally both inside and outside the club.
• Follow all Virgin Active health, safety, safeguarding and operational procedures.
• Take responsibility for the cleanliness, set-up and safe use of equipment and studio space before, during and after class.
• Communicate effectively with the club team, provide appropriate feedback or report issues that may affect the member experience, and remain open to feedback to continually develop teaching and improve the member experience.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Inspiring and empowering group exercise instructor with a stage presence that can motivate members.
• Good understanding of how music can structure a class.
• Experience in teaching group exercise classes, with knowledge of the fundamentals of clear communication and giving instructions.
• Passion for keeping people safe whilst exercising, always keeping an eye out for any risks to members.
• Love of the community aspect of fitness and willingness to put in the time to develop strong relationships with members.
• Willingness to learn from those around you.
• Ability to act as a member of one team with one goal, always be yourself and work hard.
• Desire to dream big.
• Continual focus on learning and improvement, inspiring people while having fun and doing the right thing.
