Fractional CFO

North West England (2/3 days p/week) - hybrid

Day rate - DOE

We are delighted to be supporting a fast-growing, mid-market professional services firm in their search for a seasoned Fractional CFO. This is a high-impact role ideal for a finance executive with a strong background in private equity-backed environments and a passion for driving growth, operational excellence, and long-term value creation. As a key member of the leadership team, you will shape financial strategy, enhance governance, and support business expansion through disciplined financial planning, capital structuring, and performance optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to craft and implement a financial roadmap that aligns with the company's long-term vision and growth ambitions.
  • Evaluate and advise on strategic initiatives, including expansion opportunities, investment priorities, and financial structuring.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to private equity stakeholders, ensuring transparency, alignment, and readiness for future exit scenarios.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of high-impact financial reports and performance insights tailored to investor expectations.
  • Strengthen the capabilities of the finance team by mentoring key leaders and fostering a culture of strategic thinking and accountability.
  • Play a central role in evaluating acquisition targets, ensuring financial compatibility and strategic fit.
  • Oversee the integration of newly acquired businesses, ensuring financial systems, reporting, and controls are aligned with group standards.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the business remains agile, compliant, and resilient.
  • Ensure robust financial governance, including adherence to regulatory requirements, tax obligations, and internal controls.
  • Provide forward-thinking financial counsel to support operational decisions and long-term planning across the organisation.

Qualifications and experience:

  • A strong track record in senior financial leadership roles such as CFO, Finance Director, or Fractional CFO, ideally within professional services or fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Proven success working within private equity-backed businesses, with experience spanning multiple investment cycles.
  • Deep understanding of financial strategy, capital structuring, and operational finance, with the ability to drive sustainable growth.
  • Demonstrable experience in mergers and acquisitions, including both advisory and post-deal integration.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Applicant should be available 2-3 days a week and prepared to be on site at least 1 of those days
