Founding AI Engineer (Pre-Seed DTC Fintech)

Overview

Capita is looking for a fast-moving, AI-focused backend engineer to help build the modern way people build wealth. Incubated out of Founders Factory, in partnership with Aviva, Capita is your always-on, intelligent financial co-pilot. Built for HENRYs (£90k+ earners, 29-45) who have complex financial lives but are priced out of traditional human advice and HNWI wealth products.

Capita enables smart, contextual decision-making for people taking control of their financial futures. There's modelling, advice, and action all in one place.

Responsibilities

• Get deep into AI optimisation, improving and unifying our ecosystem of AI features.
• Ship new prototype AI features fast > observe impact > iterate/polish.
• Sit across Python and Next JS, comfortable spinning up simple frontends for your complex backends.

Qualifications

• Expert with the modern backend LLM stack - APIs, RAG, agents, evals, prompt engineering, context management, AI-assisted engineering.
• Have experience building and optimising agentic LLM-first products. Big plus if you've built voice AI products before.
• Strong bias to ship and iterate quickly, trusting your own judgement of what 'good' looks like. You'll commit on day one and then every day after that.
• Excited about B2C - reach a large number of people, operate with added uncertainty, think deeply about the right level of data fidelity to make product decisions.
