Location:Saltburn-by-the-Sea

Salary:£15.00 per hour

Hours:Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 16:00

Contract:Temporary to Permanent

Westray Recruitment Group is currently recruiting for an experiencedFLT Driver / Rough Terrain Operativeto join our client at their busy waste management and recycling facility in the Saltburn-by-the-Sea area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced FLT operator looking for a stable, Monday-to-Friday position with the potential to secure a permanent role following a successful temporary period.

The Business

Our client is an established organization operating within the waste management and recycling industry, providing essential services for the processing, handling and movement of waste and recyclable materials.

The site is a busy industrial environment where safety, efficiency and teamwork are key.

Due to continued operational requirements, they are looking to appoint an experienced FLT Driver / Rough Terrain Operative to join their team.

The Role

As an FLT Driver / Rough Terrain Operative, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement, loading and unloading of materials throughout the site.

Your duties will include:

  • OperatingForklift Trucks (FLT)andRough Terrain Forkliftssafely and efficiently.
  • Loading and unloading waste materials, recyclable materials, containers, skips, pallets and other goods.
  • Moving and positioning materials throughout the waste management facility and designated storage areas.
  • Loading materials into processing areas, machinery, compactors, hoppers and other designated locations.
  • Assisting with the movement and segregation of different waste streams in line with site procedures.
  • Ensuring loads are correctly positioned, secure and within the safe operating capacity of the equipment.
  • Supporting the loading and unloading of vehicles and waste containers.
  • Assisting with general yard and site duties when required.
  • Maintaining clean, tidy and safe working areas, access routes and loading areas.
  • Working closely with other site operatives, machine operators, drivers and supervisors.
  • Identifying and reporting any hazardous, prohibited or incorrectly segregated waste.
  • Completing relevant paperwork, check sheets and operational records.
  • Following all companyHealth & Safety, PPE, environmental and operational procedures.
  • Undertaking other reasonable duties as required by the Site Supervisor or Management.

This is an active, hands-on role based outdoors and around heavy machinery, vehicles and waste materials. A strong commitment to Health & Safety is essential at all times.

The Person

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Avalid FLT licence/certificateappropriate to the equipment being operated.
  • Previous experience operating FLT equipment within an industrial, warehouse, yard, construction or waste management environment.
  • Experience operating Rough Terrain Forkliftsis highly desirable.
  • Afull driving licence.
  • A good understanding of workplace Health & Safety procedures.
  • The ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A reliable, safety-conscious and responsible approach to work.
  • The ability to follow instructions, risk assessments and site procedures.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to assist with general site duties when required.
