Job Description

Looking for flexible work that fits around your commitments while making a genuine difference in the classroom?Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Support Staff to work on an ad hoc basis across a range of specialist schools in Preston. These schools cater for pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), communication needs, physical disabilities, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in education, care, youth work, coaching, support work, psychology, health and social care, or anyone with a passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.

As a Specialist Support Assistant, you may be responsible for:

  • Providing classroom support to pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Supporting pupils with academic tasks and engagement in lessons
  • Building positive relationships to help learners develop confidence and independence
  • Assisting pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and implementing behaviour support strategies
  • Supporting students during breaktimes, enrichment activities and educational visits
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to meet individual learning targets
  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where all pupils can thrive
