The RoleYou will manage all operational activities relating to fire training courses and ensure that all activities are completed safely and in full compliance with the requirements of the Company's Safety Management System. You will have key internal interactions with Planning, TMS, Bookings, Business Development and other Team Leads.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop, implement and maintain Health & Safety procedures and best practices related to fire training and training facilities, ensuring the safety of all personnel, delegates and visitors.
- Supervise Instructors and support staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained at all times.
- Plan and manage offsite training being undertaken by the instructors in the department. This includes liaising with the planning team, briefing Instructors prior to departure and ensuring Instructors have all relevant training materials to undertake assignment.
- Allocate daily work duties to the Instructors & Support Team.
- Ensure that any concerns or issues raised by team members are dealt with promptly and discussed with the General Manager where required.
- Attend meetings to discuss and advise on clients training requirements for the delivery of courses.
- Plan and develop Instructor personal development plans.
- Conduct Instructor competency assessments.
- Verify training and assessment processes.
- Prepare staff rotas and plan staff assignments to ensure appropriate cover for all courses and other operational activities.
- Ensure all inspections and tests are conducted correctly and thoroughly and in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule through both internal staff and 3rd parties.
- Be responsible for the replacement and/or repair of defective equipment gaining prior authorisation from the General Manager where applicable and the quarantine and/or disposal of defective equipment from service.
- Ensure that risk assessments are completed for all tasks, as appropriate.
- Ensure self and team members maintain a high standard of appearance, wearing company-provided clothing/PPE as required, positively reflecting the Company's image.
- Arrange cover during busy periods & staff absences and ensure all planned courses run as scheduled.
- Undertake all activities in compliance with the requirements of the Company's and/or the Client's Safety Management System (SMS).
- Undertake additional duties as requested by the General Manager.

- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Firefighter (Retained Firefighter) at senior level.
- Experienced in OPITO & STCW Fire & Helideck training.
- Provide technical coaching / professional guidance and assist in staff development.
- Demonstrate a calm and systematic approach.
- Proficient working knowledge of Office IT systems including MS Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Convey information fluently, interpreting and clarifying details and explaining rationale.
- Select and use the best method of communication to ensure understanding.
- Use a wide range and depth of technical or specialised knowledge, providing technical leadership and expert advice to others.
- Work to develop team spirit and cooperation.
- Provide meaningful feedback on a regular, ongoing basis.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to cope with competing demands and to prioritise tasks.
- A professional appearance which appropriately reflects the role and company image.
- A discreet approach with the ability to maintain confidential.
- A valid UK Driving Licence.
- Industry recognised Level 3 Teaching Qualification
- Assessor Qualification (OPITO / SQA)
- Internal Verifier (OPITO / SQA)
The working hours for this role are 7.30am to 4.15pm, Monday to Friday. Each working day includes an unpaid lunch break of 45 minutes.
